3. As enjoyable as it can be, it just doesn't hold up to the period. While Empire of the Undead isn't a bad album (best they've done in a decade), you can't help but feel Kai and crew have stagnated to some degree. Gamma Ray fans definitely can't go wrong with this, but this feels just plain inferior to, say, Somewhere Out in Space.

4. A new Gamma Ray full-length is always cause for rejoice, and it’s always great to see Kai Hansen is still doing what he does best. Empire Of The Undead stands as album number eleven for the gang, and see’s the band continuing along the path paved via Land of the Free II onward. Whilst the run of genre-defining power metal may have ended with Majestic, I do feel they channel some of that.

5. Gamma ray always deliver a no nonsense rock album. After many years of being a fan, the guys never seem to let me down. This is no different with Kai Hansen at the helm steering the steady ship. There is a mix of hard rocking tracks like Hellbent,Pale Rider to softer tracks like Time for Deliverance/5().
